Re: Water Purification

The steri-pen, in my opinion, is a great little tool. It does work, but as has been mentioned, the water should be pre-filtered and the sediment allowed to settle. Turbidity in the water plays a major roll in steri-pens ability to purify water. Here's a link to another thread I was involved with on ...

Re: Water Purification

Gon, yes better safe than sorry. there is a passive type thermometer that may be of interest. it is called a wapi and is used in solar pasteurization known as sodis. that being said, one can tell when water is about to go into a rolling boil-- you begin to get a couple of bubble streams from the ...

Re: Water Purification

Well, there's a couple of things to consider. One is fuel might be scarce. And in the case of ultra lighters, they take as little as possible to begin with. Re: hypothermia and infection prevention

okay! that sounds correct. there is a saturation point with the sugar. this is why when you use sugar it should be changed out after it turns into a viscous gel like substance. in the case of the uterus, it seems the doc was able to visit soon and handle the emergency... it does make sense! of ...

Re: hypothermia and infection prevention

was it to keep it from drying out or prevent infection? Something tells me it was to protect against infection. Of course, I wasn't there so I don't know. Actually, one can also use salt on the wound. it has the same hygroscopic properties as sugar and honey, but I would reserve that method for ...

Thanks guys.

Actually, I'm going to test next week. As much as I would like to do it this Saturday, I can't. I have other obligations.

So far, I've really been enjoying the archived nets... pretty cool info.

Master Guns, suggested I check this site out... I'm glad he did. This place looks fantastic and is nice to know it is based out of Cali. I really like the archived nets, what a brilliant idea. A little about me I am a survival instructor and am co-owner of dirttime.com , along with Christopher ...
