Re: Grizzly Kills Hiker
Excerpted from the article: "Photos on the camera and the images' timestamps showed that White was within 50 yards of the bear for at least eight minutes, without retreating. Permitted backcountry travelers in Denali are required to stay at least a quarter-mile from bears and leave the area if they ...

Re: Low Power HF Operations
Great job Hector! QRP can be fun. Just a tip....Next time you might let them know early in the QSO that you're operating QRP. Good operators will give you all the time and attention necessary for the contact....Not that this operator didn't....he did a FB job in picking you up. BTW, what band were ...

Re: 440 Band in Jeopardy
Good Gawd, this stuff is fun. Again, I'll defer to my post #33. But, to say that the Constitution can be amended is a bit simplistic. By any nations standards, it's been amended a whole lot of times. Most for good reason, and the changes were brought by both parties. I'm not really a fan of the ...

Re: Pactor 4 Dragon
Beware..... There are heavy and heated discussions that could see Pactor moved out of the amateur spectrum due to interference issues that are cropping up. Most of the offenders are yachties who abuse the service. Seems Pactor is having a tough time finding clear frequencies in custom with other ...

Back in 04' the stuff (we called it Turricula) was growing all over San Diego county following their fires as well. Phacelia (Scorpionweed) is another indigenous plant having a similar effect. Unlike Poison Oak, my buddy's hunting dogs would get into it (Turricula and Phacelia) and have horrible ...

Re: Getting the lead out!
You're right, just as dragging dry patches though the bore are ineffective....the same goes for the bore snake. Used dry, I'd expect either to leave gobs of junk in the bore. But, running them dry....I'd still prefer the bore snake. Again, I'd get two for each bore size...one for solvent, one for ...

Re: Getting the lead out!
I don't even bother with conventional cleaning methods on my shotguns. Try a "bore snake". They're buggers to use the first few times, but after a while they'll stretch and conform to the bore. I lightly saturate one with a cleaner/solvent and another with an oil. They each get pulled through the ...
