Re: First Time Checking In
Well the Death Valley website is not showing any road closures (http://www.nps.gov/deva/index.htm or on their Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/DeathValleyNP). I am going to Death Valley on the 14th to Furnace Creek for 3 days. I might leave early and go through Ridgecrest and stay at Wildrose ...

Re: BorregoFest supplies / fuel
Ahh Borrego Springs is not that far...just top off after or before a run. My Jeep gets 15 to 16 mpg. I can run from my house in National City to AB and the trail and make it home on one tank. I always carry 2 5gal cans anyway. Never can tell what happends.

Re: 2012 BorregoFest Location Ideas
Blair Valley is wide open; I have seen big groups camping there. Check with the ABSP rangers. Or you go to Truckhaven where TDS has their event. Plenty of fuel at Hwy 86 and S-22 huge Arco station. JJ Oh BTW I tried to change my avatar and the page is blank. Tried it on my laptop with three browsers ...

Re: 2012 BorregoFest Location Ideas
Going to Julian defeats the name "BorregoFest". What about Blair Valley? Plenty of room and accessible; also gives you a reason to use all that expedition equipment because it is a "dry" area.

Re: Got a 3 day weekend, where are we going? Updated Mojave Road
I beileve that the NPS HQ in Barstow has copies of the Mojave Road Guide. You may want to give them a call. Since the book is designed to go East to West that is the best way. The Avi is good; also there is a KOA in Needles but that was a longtime ago.

Re: Golar Wash
Ah, that was not Golar Wash. That gravel trail was Echo Canyon done that three times. Great mine at the sort of end. From the mine you can turn back or go on all the way to Beatty, NV that waterfall looks like it was groomed. The last time I did it with two other Jeeps it was much steeper. The dunes ...

Re: Golar Wash
I have done Golar Wash twice and the only "technical" area is in the middle as you approach Mengle Pass. Some small hill climbs and a couple of rock gardens. The first time I was just with my Jeep and camping gear. The second time was with my M416 trailer. Both times I was able to get through ...

They are hard to find when you are looking. Here is part of a herd from Death Valley, the total number was about 35. These are the Nelson Bighorn Sheep. In Anza Borrego we have the Peninsular Bighorn Sheep.

Re: Family Adventure Vehicle: 2000 Jeep Wrangler
I second that... Jeep there is only ONE! What I like about leaf springs... simple. I like the motion that I get from my leaf springs. Some lift kits for the TJ have issues with the "death wobble". Bushings wearing out and bolts breaking... However my friend has a 1999 TJ and a Currie suspension and ...
