Communications
Re: Communications
Dave:
That should work, I have all of the info loaded on my 8800 in files on the
laptop and can download it if I want to at a later time. I picked up
a CD, Travelplus for repeaters 2008-2009 edition it includes the
entire ARRL repeater database. I haven't used it yet, but the Ham at the store
said it was very easy to use:
"Use the integrated maps and repeater data within TRAVALPLUS to locate
repeaters along your traval route. It's like having the power of the ARRL
Repeater Directory on your COMPUTER".
Create Route- trace your travel route on colorful US and Canadian
maps, and locate repeaters along the way.
I will bring it on the trip if any one wants to try it.

Re: Communications
TravelPlus is what I used to put together the list of repeaters I posted.
Re: Communications
As I was setting up my programming list, I noticed this 440 frequency is probably not a good one to use. I recommend that we use the 446.000 Or another frequency between 445.00 and 447.00 which are designated for simplex operations. The original 440 freq proposed is not a good choice according to bandplans.DaveK wrote:We need to make some adjustments to our trip simplex frequency. It looks like 5 of the 6 participants will be running APRS. If we run on the 2M national frequency, we should select a 440 frequency for simplex communications. Until we make some further adjustment, lets plan on monitoring 437.435 for group communications.
Re: Communications
I think I have my APRS system up and operating, spoke with Dave this afternoon and
he could locate my location on his computer. But to be sure I would like to have Hector ( the APRS expert )
double check to insure that everything is working like it should be.

AS of 1600 hours East coast time no reply from
FCC/ULS.
I will check it again tomorrow after or maybe during our get together
in the morning.
Hope to have something before we depart for the Grand Canyon...
