Oh man so beautiful. How far away were you from the lava flow?

Very difficult to tell distance, but I would guess that the active lava flow was about 1/2 mile away (or so). The lava flow that we walked on to get the view was at least 15 years old.

Wow. Makes me wish I was old enough to insist on hiking when I went, instead of doing the chopper tour (I was 10).
