Trips For Fall Colors?

Post by ssc » Sat Sep 18, 2010 9:41 pm

Anyone have any trips planned to photograph the fall colors? My plans are a bit up in the air, but I may take the last week of Sept and first week of Oct and head to Bishop or Fishlake or Ouray. The aspens are incredible in Colorado.

Hmm... I need to make a beer run to Utah. That could be considered on the way to Colorado...

I've been thinking of putting something together but don't have any solid plans or ideas. My wife and I have been talking of running the girls up to Colorado. I hate to admit it but my kids have yet to see snow. I haven't spent much time around Bishop except passing through to get to Mammoth.

A couple of photo trips that I've been wanting to do for years are Bryce/Zion and Monument Valley but with snow.

A decent photo trip would be really really good for me right now. Last one I took was to Samoa back in '07.

I have wheeled around the Bishop area and up past Bridgeport. Decided to leave this Sat or Sun and will head up to Bishop Creek--SW of Bishop. I hear the colors are starting to come out. Never spent much time west of Bishop, so study time for the maps. Much closer than Ouray. Been to Zion and Bryce a few times. The only time I hit snow was an early snowstorm and I was on my scooter. Not quite what I had in mind.

I can't make anything this coming weekend as it's my Dad's 65th. Might be able to squeeze something in early October.
