LONG TERM TRIP (or Expedition) PLANNING - PART 2

We just had too much material and too little time to cover it all during the net last week. So, we will conclude the topic this Thursday, October 27, 2016. Following this, we will move into our Glass Mountain, Bodie, Masonic Peak Adventure.

Original post of 10/20/16

Sooner or later your weekend trips just won't be long enough. Regardless of where you live, there are too many great places to explore which require more than just 2 or 3 days. When that time comes, you'll want to make the very most out of the week or two (or more) that you have. Planning ahead will insure that you get the best shot at enjoying the great USA.

This week we will discuss the many techniques that we use for our long terms trips which have produced some amazing results. These techniques will include everything (that time permits) from safety to having fun. As always, join us, either on the net or here on the website, to let us know what works for you.

Since we had such a terrific time and since the trip is relatively close for most of us in the South West, we will be using our trip of a few years ago to the Grand Canyon Parashant National Monument and our Indian Country trips as the basis for our discussion. The Parashant trip was a 8 day affair and we covered a huge portion of the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. There were many reasons for the trip, but the pictures below give a pretty good insight into the "why." Join us!!!

KK6CTT for an on line check-in please. Looks like a great way to start SW desert journey planning. Looking for some pointers on travel through the Havasupai area for an upcoming adventure where I think you have mentioned in the past coordination with local tribes is a factor to consider.

Looking forward to the net!

PRODUCT SPOTLIGHT

The spotlight this week is on a essential that should be in the vehicle at all times, the Silky Pocketboy 170 folding saw. Its small size, very aggressive cutting teeth, and quality construction make it ideal for cutting firewood, building emergency shelters, cutting downed wood on the trail, hunting and camping. When folded, it is easy to stow.

Check out their website: http://www.silkysaws.com/. Also, check out this You Tube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CxQzTK3FISM . Available on Amazon for about $30.00.
