If you're really interested in learning good snow driving techniques there are schools available. This is probably the best known one located in Colorado Springs, CO -

A great local (Southern California) driving school that teaches skid control on a skid pad is Advanced Driving Dynamics -

I got gift certificates for my Brother and Sister-In-Law for this school as Christmas presents a couple of years ago. I sat in the classroom portion and watched the driving exercises. I liked it so much I'm going myself sometime later this year. They hold there classes at the Irwindale Event Center (a.k.a. The Irwindale Speedway).
