Moonrise At Otay

Post by dionysius » Sat Jan 10, 2009 9:25 pm

Tonight was supposed to be the closest this year the moon would be at moonrise for 2009. So I went up the Minnewawa and waited for it to appear. Caught the last flight or jump at the airport while waiting. It was very clear out so pictures of the coast were also taken, with the Coronado Islands visible.

Very nice pictures Denis. I was warching that moon come up on the way home from Anaheim. Was telling my wife it would have been great to be on the mountain. Couldn't believe how clear it was out. I can't imagine the view those skydivers had. Simply awsome. ;)

It was really a clear afternoon, thanks to the offshore flow. I wish the moon was a bit more detailed, it was moving pretty fast on the rise. Lots of people were up there tonight. It looks like San Clemente Island is visible in the last picture too.

We too were up around Mt Baldy when the moon came up. I just put my Canon 100-400 back in the bag and put my 20mm on when my lady shot this pic. Not as great as yours. It was very bright.

Awesome pics, especially those with the jumpers in them...

Even from my house the view was great - I would have loved to have been up on the mountain to see it... :o

Nice pics you guys! Denis, those sunset skydiving pics are insane! Well done sir. I was checking the moon out with my telescope. It was a tad bright  but very cool.

Speaking of great moon gazing, I got to see the moon setting from the Ranger station at Ocotillo Wells OHV Park yesterday morning. It was way cool!

So that's why the moon looked so big out there! I'm sure we'll have other folks posting up their moon pics.

And no, not that kind Larry! :P
