Re: SummerFest Report
That Pinz is an amazing vehicle...makes the tough stuff look easy
And after a long day on the trail, it's always nice to cool down your undercarriage:

Re: SummerFest Report
What a great trip. Big Bear looks a lot greener that I remember it last year. Very nice.
Larry, Bruce and Eric: I noticed that only Eric was running ARPS for the trip. I didn't see Larry or Bruce and no record of their signal was reported on APRS.fi.
Eric - I seem to recall that you could not receive messages??
The track created by Eric's APRS signal is a good trip log. See http://aprs.fi/?call=K6EPS-9&dt=1245456 ... range=3600

Working great now Eric, thanks. Excellent videos, Bruce should enjoy those.

I have no way to receive messages yet. I need to setup the interface to my computer.DaveK wrote:Eric - I seem to recall that you could not receive messages??

You may need to set the timerange parameter out a bit longer as some of the early points will begin to drop off. Try this one:
http://aprs.fi/?call=K6EPS-9&mt=m&z=11&timerange=604800
It seems that you can only have 7 days of history? I wish there was a way to capture the data indefinetely.
Dave, I heard you calling on Keller. I tried to respond but I guess I wasn't hitting the repeater very well.

Eric:
aprs.fi keeps points for 6 months. All of your digipeated points are on the aprs.fi site for the entire trip. Some of this information can be saved but I have not seen a way to save it all with a single click or two.

Great pictures and video. Looks like you all had good times. Sorry I missed it. Gold Mtn looks a little bit torn up. Did you make it to pioneer town?

sure wish you could have joined us. Hope everything is OK.
Never did make it to Pioneer Town. We got a late start and after running Heartbreak Ridge, it was late afternoon. Gold Mtn was pretty tore up, but still very doable.
Re: SummerFest Report
Eric,
Thanks for posting the movies. I don't often get to see what the Pinz looks like running on the trail. After watching the video I think I need new shocks as well as a new muffler. Not bad though for a 37 year old rig. It definitely has different driving dynamics than most any other 4x4. Who says you need to have all 4 wheels on the ground when 2 or 3 will do
