That is an ongoing question, and depends on you yourself. You allready are in the right direction... by being a member hear. The key to everything is education. There are so many influences on TV, in magazines and such, where they portray vehicles destroying the enviornment. One such example that pops in my head is Extreme 4x4 on Spike TV. They had an episode that aired where they hooked a winch to a tree by simply running the winch cable around the tree and hooking the hook onto the winch line!!! It generated enough heat and user responses to it from the awareness in clubs and forums, that they later aired an episode on how to do things right.unwiredadventures wrote:Yes, I agree. Most clubs will have a land use folder or similar designated to protecting the environment. (normally one of the top folders). Here is a link to the last clean-up I was involved in... we had over 250 come out to clean up... it took every one of us all day to clean it up!
Involvement is key to the educational aspect as well. Although our daughter is only 11 months old, she has been on 2 clean-up to date! As she grows up it will just be normal, and she will understand to pack our what she brings in and hopefully share that knowledge with her peers.
If you look close you can see FlyingBaby in the shade (behind the ladder) and two other kids were playing in the tent:

To get an idea we filled over 24 trailers like this:

In my opinion, treadLightly is a great place to start learning how to respect the trails. It can be taken to different levels, and at the same time a trail closure may be required to indeed protect that environment. I am not against trail closures if they are for purposes in which I agree with. There are many clubs and organizations out there in which you can become a member of...
