How long has that ATAS been on your truck (or past vehicles). I am considering one as part of a planned radio but I am unsure as to how well it will hold up to the abuse of the trail.

While on the trail it is removed until I need it. I leave the dualband antenna attached and remove the ATAS. I figure I'll only be using the HF bands when I'm parked or in an emergency. I haven't gone the route of rigging the radio with a diplexer (I thank that's what it's called) to us the ATAS for all bands. The only antenna I remove on the trail is the ATAS. The mount has a screw on cap to keep debris and water out of it too. I have to remove ALL of my radio antennas to even get in my garage. So day-to-day I only use one antenna on my 8800 for chatting. It's a ritual when I get out of my garage to put on my antenna then head to work.

Hello Ollie,
amazing work you have done on the FJ. I thought I put stuff in my Jeep but I look like an amateur now. Would like to see the rig some time.
BTW are you an EMT. I used to be and would like to get licensed again but not sure how to go about it now.

you thoughts would be appreciated.

thank you
David

Thanks David... I'm sure your jeep is decked out just as well... :D I look forward to seeing your jeep as well.

On the other note... I am not an EMT. I am trained in various things but EMT is not one of them. If I have the equipment, then I am trained to use it though. My next training will be the Wilderness Rescue Training.
