Same here...??? odd,.. very odd... maybe the family did not want to make anything else public ???
Usually it's not up to the family - that information is released to the press by official agency reports...curious to find out what really happened here...

Oddly, there are a couple of sites devoted to him:

And, a FaceBook Page:

Apparently he was on Pinyon Mtn (as per their info)? There is a lot of room to get lost out there, more so as, if the blanket and tire cover are any indication, he went north. Had he followed the tail either way, he’d have run into some one, either by the highway or down Fish Creek.
A few years ago we found a CRV wedged onto some rocks above the flats (after the drop off). It was early in the morning. We could see foot prints leading away, back toward Split rock. Turns out two women had wedged it there after coming in via Split Mtn. They’d walk almost the whole way back when the Ranger picket them up. We ran into them coming back to get the CRV just past the McCain springs turn. So walking to people was possible . . .
But . . .

I do not know. It could be a hoax, to cover up him running off or something . . but why go through this much trouble as opposed to just running off? Looking at the pictures of the Jeep, if it is a hoax, he’d have went through a lot of trouble to get the Jeep to look accidently stuck and messed up. But, with as much trouble as he’d caused just prior, with steeling the motorcycle, faking the kidnapping, and all that, it is not too much of a stretch to see him faking this. Then again, all that can also be symptoms of a very confused boy, who’ll keep making mistakes.
My guess, looking at the Jeep’s location is that he went blazing down Fish Creek from camp, without a care or thought, and a ways past Split rock there is the drop off where we found the CRV that time. He made it down just fine but I have seen a few rigs have trouble going back up and a stock Jeep like that might just have trouble – might be where he broke the mirror. He went on to Heart attack Hill and wasn’t going to get up that with this stock Jeep and street tires. He might have gotten trapped between the two drop offs and started to tear up the Jeep trying until it was gone.
Dark, in the night, he may have gotten a bit confused and started to walk back toward Fish Creek, made a wrong turn, there were one goes south for a bit at the drop/climb and ended up going North, lost the blanket and all soon after and then kept going, not knowing what direction he was pointed. In that direction, north, there is a lot of space in which to get lost, more so if one makes another mistake or two.
There are a lot of washes and old Indian trails back in there. The Native Americans used to gather together in Hapaha and Harper Flats and go up and down there for Pinyon so there it can be a maze out there.
So, my guess is, I’d look over there, Harper Flat, Pinyon Wash, Nolina Wash and all in there a bit to the east as well maybe.
There, my amateur or less sleuth thoughts!

Yeah, if he did, and is living in hiding on the streets, then life isn’t very good. Like you say, no happy outcome.
