I'll start playing around with it. I'm working on a few iPhone apps at the moment, work and personal. I'll let you know what I come up with.

So, I've been digging around a bit the past couple of days. The blog at
OpenAPRS caught my attention and in it was mention of their
iPhone app. Get on the AppStore and search for OpenAPRS or click
here.
Cost is $2.99. I have not tried it yet but I have some ideas if it doesn't do what you guys are looking for.

...and for us Droid user's, here's what I got in response to my inquiry...
An edition of EchoLink for Android phones is currently in development. No
specific release date has been set, but we expect the Android edition to begin
testing later this summer.
We do occasionally receive inquiries about EchoLink for other platforms, such
as Symbian, BlackBerry, Windows Mobile, and PalmOS. At this time there are no
plans to develop an edition of EchoLink for these platforms.

Ha, I did the same thing. I never got an iphone 2 or 3. But when I heard that apple's contract with AT&T won't be over for two more years that smashed any hope of a verizon iphone now. So I got the new iphone4 the other day. I'm very pleased with it. Lightyears ahead of the 1st gen iphone.

Right. I'm pretty confident that the iphone will be with at&t till 1012 so ill probably end up buying one. I have a $50 a month unlimited plan that I can transfer over. I guess Ill be paying $10 a month more for 3g service but still. It will be nice to have a gps in my phone.

I carry both a verizon phone and the Iphone. I have had att and verizon since 1991. The reason I got verizon in 1991 was that att didn't have good service in Temecula and I had an office in Tem. Verizon was my primary phone. I would have to agree that verizon was a much better service than att up to early 2000. As it stands now, att has been my primary phone for the last 3 years and it is as good or better than verizon in many ways. I have found many areas where verizon will not work and att does--China, Africa, St Crois, areas around hoover dam. I have found a few spots where verizon works and att doesn't. When I was still riding long distance on my scooter and to remote areas, I always took both phones and found places one would work and the other wouldn't. I think att suffers from its past poor reception issues, but I feel it is better in many ways than verizon for international travel and equal here in the states.

You must have the Verizon world phone. Last I checked, Verizon and Sprint were still CDMA - USA only. Others are GSM. Verizon does have a world phone, but it uses a leased network outside the USA. This was as of a couple of years ago. Maybe things have changed.

The only thing I know is that when I was in the US virgin Islands, Verizon was my primary phone and it was dead and att worked and this was pre iphone.
