Fear not. An article in today's Los Angeles Times quotes a BLM official as stating the upcoming Las Vegas race on BLM land will go on as planned, and while they are investigating this specific race, they have no plans to eliminate off-road racing or the other uses currently afforded folks on BLM land. Part of the reason is the nature of the land itself and it's multi-use designation, and part due to the lack of manpower to enforce a ban.Matt2001TJ wrote:Being as how all the eco-nazi groups are already going after us as much as they can all this does is give them fuel for there fire. I have no doubts that this will be bad for other types of off roading as well as any annual events that happen on BLM land. Our club (Victor Valley 4 Wheelers) event "Fun in The Desert" in Johnson Valley is on BLM land as well and some of us are wondering about what kind of impact this could have on us.
So, while MDR Racing may have some 'splainin' to do, I don't see an all-out ban on off-road racing or activities happening anytime soon.
A quick side note: I have a personal and professional interest in off-road racing and recreation, I also consider myself to be concerned and proactive in helping to protect and preserve the environment for future generations. I take offense, for many reasons, to any term that uses "Nazi" or "Terrorist" in it's description to be dramatic, and suggest folks think twice before applying those words to just any group they oppose in an attempt to rile up emotions.
