Good comments.

The San Diego area is the first one into which we are expanding. One of the benefits of IRLP is that we can link to more than one repeater. In order to maximize our coverage, we are still looking for other San Diego area repeaters that will help us reach more people.

If you have a particular repeater that serves your area, let us know and if it is IRLP equipped and the owner will give us permission to run our nets, we will add it to the list (in addition to Palomar). Get us the frequency and the repeater call sign, if possible.

Last time I checked, there were 4 or 5 repeaters located on Palomar Mountain, a couple of which are very busy. The list of Palomar repeaters, mentioned earlier, does not include the one we are using for our nets. The one we are using is the KA6UAI Repeater at:

449.300
Negative offset
100.0 PL

Please let us know how the Palomar Repeater is working.

So is it linked all the time, or is it only linked for the net? I can hit 449.300 with my HT from my house, and will likely try using it for this week's net with Doug being net control.

Answered my own question after a few google searches and doing some reading. Looks like you guys must setup the link at the start of the net:

Good links: http://www.irlp.net/guidelines.html

Palomar node #: 7870
Keller node #: 3216

At the moment, we are linking the repeaters at the time of the nets, but Keller is considering a full time link. The full time link, if it occurs, will be to a reflector, as this will allow us to bring in many other repeaters.

We look forward to bringing in as much of the San Diego area as possible.
