If you primitive camped inside of park boundaries “Their”
rules require a metal container for the fire and removal of all ashes.
They will give you a ticket if a ranger happens to come by.

The Jeep is cool. Thanks for the heads up on the fire rule. I know it exists and although some may say I am skirting the rules to a certain degree, I covered the ground with several layers of heavy duty aluminum foil which we removed with all ashes and coals. The point of the parks rule is to leave the wilderness unscathed and I believe we left the campsite in a more pristine condition than when we arrived.

Epic shots Scott!!! I think you could have the POTM shot wrapped up with some of those. That parasitic plant you took a picture of is getting pretty crazy down here. I was asking BorregoWrangler what kind of plant that was back when we did our Three Sister's hike last year and neither of us were sure. It's popping up all over the place. Hope it's not a bad sign. It's good to see you and your wife getting out there like you are. Awesome times.

The aluminum foil is a great idea and I’m going to try that. I’m pretty sure they would leave you alone once they saw that set-up. I don’t have the room for a washer tub in our FJ 40 but a roll of heavy duty foil is in our camping stuff anyway.

It was a beautiful weekend out there even if it was a bit nippy at elevation. Yes the Dodder moves very rapidly but fortunately it dies quickly as well and from what I have read it leaves little damage to the host plant. We are doing our best to get out and see the flowers! That's what I tell here every time, we are going to see the flowers and do some sightseeing honey- just close your eyes while we are rock crawling and "yes honey we are stopping in Julian for pie".
