We'll be camping in the area Sunday night as well. If memory serves, there are decent spots to camp before the second crossing? I'm thinking we'll join the run too, just drop the Subaru at a camp before we hit water and continue on in the Disco.

Yeah, there are more areas to camp further up the canyon around Collins Valley, but I've seen plenty of folks camped out before the second crossing. It'll be good to have you guys on a trail run again!Chazz Layne wrote:We'll be camping in the area Sunday night as well. If memory serves, there are decent spots to camp before the second crossing? UPDATE FROM PARK HEADQUARTERS: IMPORTANT NOTICE
The road into Lower Coyote Canyon was badly damaged during summer rainstorms, and will not open until mid-October or later. The road into Upper Coyote Canyon should open as scheduled October 1. Horse Camp should open October 1, but the road to Horse Camp has soft sand, and four-wheel-drive is recommended. We appreciate your patience as we work to repair these roads.
If the trail isn't open by BorregoFest we can always run another trail but I'll keep everyone updated.

You got it.SteeevO wrote:I'm pretty sure I'll be in on this one.
However, it doesn't look like the closure gate past the second crossing will be open in time for this run. We could still run it up to the gate and hit up another trail in the area, or just run a different trail entirely. I'll check with the park office again on Friday.
