Technology keeps making the tasks of handloading easier and easier. For those who handload and who weigh the powder charge for each round, this job is now much easier, thanks to the Pact Company.
Much of the popularity of mechanical weight scales has been replaced by new digital electronic scales, in large part because they are faster, comparable in price, and just as precise. The next logical step in this technology was a system that allowed the handloader to input the charge weight into a unit and have the powder dispensed automatically every time thereafter, with the push of a button. Your Dispenser will take it from there, depositing your powder directly into the powder pan resting on the Scale. The information from the Scale allows the dispenser to precisely meter the charges, trickling the last few tenths. In other words, each load is as accurate as it would be if you weighed each charge, trickling each one to the correct weight by hand. THE FINAL STEP
After all of the above techniques are performed, there is one last step to see just how effective your hard work has been. That last step, of course, is testing the round at the range!!!
Range testing should consist of two parts - consistency (or uniformity) and accuracy. Both are important. Consistency will be measured by a chronograph and accuracy will be measured by your paper target (as long as you do your part).
A good chronograph will measure the velocity of your bullets. A great chronographs will do this
and calculate the vital statistics of your shots, including:
- 1. the velocity of every shot
2. the average velocity of all shots
3. the extreme velocity spread
4. high and low velocities
6. standard deviation for all shots
There are several chronographs on the market today and most will serve you well. There is one standout, however, that has been serving the shooting community for over 40 years, and that's Oehler!!! The Ohler Chronograph, Model 35P (

The Oehler Model 35P includes a built-in printer. It prints with real ink on plain adding machine paper, not thermal paper! It automatically prints each round as you fire; you can't forget or lose any data.
- A: Statistical summary of valid shots includes high, low, extreme spread, mean and standard deviation.
B: Asterisk denotes possible error on shots, X indicates previous shot omitted from summary.
C: Proof velocity between first and second screens.
D: Primary velocity between first and last screens.
E: Shot number.
F: You can read the large display digits from any angle and in any light-- without bifocals.
A second chronograph or PROOF CHANNEL™ is built into each Model 35. You measure two velocities every shot. The two velocity readings are automatically compared to assure you of correct readings on each shot. The PROOF CHANNEL uses three skyscreens and two timers to make two velocity measurements on each shot.... it automatically compares the two readings, and it waves a flag if they don't agree within reasonable limits.
The Model 35 uses a 4 MHz clock for higher accuracy at short screen spacings.
A plain-paper printer is built into the Model 35P. Each velocity is automatically printed as you shoot, and the summary is printed on command.

Tonight I'll be driving to Frontsight
I'll try to check in through the Keller, Las Vegas or Pahrump repeaters, but at the time of the check-ins I might be right in between of the three. Can I pls get an online checking if I'm unsuccessful to reach any repeater?

Make a Spreadsheet, keep your data!
I barcode and label every box of ammo I make.
when I use the ammo, I log its performance after I shoot in my spreadsheet.
Use a spreadsheet to help manage costs, track your ammunitions performance, inventory and equipment.
If you aren't using a spreadsheet you're reloading in the stone age!
