No generator
I do have a fridge
I also have an inReach that is capable of receiving text messages. I'll send everyone my inReach address to pass on as another way to contact us if necessary.
I'm in for working in meal pairs.
Looking forward to the remoteness and the beautiful country.

I have a 50qt ARB fridge which I expect to run continuously off an external battery (or two), recharged by vehicle and solar power.
I’d be happy to try to help anyone set up their APRS.

I ordered four jerry cans from Deutsche Optik (per Dave's suggestion), which seems to have a decent price on what is apparently a sturdy, standard NATO can at four for $156 ($39 each). The Wavian jerry cans seem to be going for around $80 each.
https://deutscheoptik.com/20-liter-jerr ... -four.html
However, I received notice from Deutsche Optik that their cans are on backorder for 2-4 weeks. So, if you need a few and intend to source from DO, better get your orders in.
Thanks for the info. I order a set of 4 today.

I notice that “firewood” is not in the list of recommended items. While firewood can take up considerable space that will be used for water, fuel, and food, will we have any opportunities for evening campfires? The compressed logs are fairly efficient with space and might be an option.

Came across this website with pictures and descriptions for sites in the Grand Staircase Escalante NM.

MAPS
I'm ready to start sending out maps and GPX files of the area. Initially, I need to know if there is anyone whose navigation is capable of using files created in Nat Geo Topo.
Dave,
GPX files work better for me.

GPX is easiest for me also, though I have GPSBabel and can convert most formats.

I used GPS Babel to convert my NG files to GPX, and I will send them your way.
I trust, from the lack of response, that no one uses the NG Topo system.

We don't need to carry firewood. And, yes, we will have campfires at night, as long as there are no fire restrictions in place. No need to bring poo logs!!!!!
