My absolute favorite pour over is using this Kalita Wave 185 You can use a small cone filter but the Kalita Wave filters are really nice and they fit perfectly as they are made for this dripper. While this little guy does not collapse, it is still fairly small and works really well. You can find them online for about $25 : https://www.amazon.com/Kalita-5033-Wave ... 000X1AM0Y/

This is a great topic! I'm a recent coffee convert, I've only been drinking it for a few years now. I am constantly in search for a great cup of coffee now. My name is Errin and I'm a coffee snob. I roast my own coffee and I enjoy many different ways of brewing coffee. I prefer lighter roasts and natural coffees. Not a fan of dark roasts.

A few years ago I started a weekly coffee meetup along the Los Angeles River. Originally geared towards bike commuters it was a way to hang out before the start of the work day and enjoy a cup of coffee outside. Also, it was a sneaky way of showing off your own travel brewing techniques and styles. We have great conversations over coffee and it's truly one of the highlights of the week. When we started this there were 2 HAMs and now we have at least 3 addtional HAMs, including myself.

I roast using a Behmor Coffee Roaster. It can roast just under a pound per batch.

Our group is mostly made up of people that either hike, bicycle tour or go on 4WD trips. Here are some of the different setups we tend to use. My own personal favorite is a pourover. I usually use a Caldera Keg alcohol stove to boil the water, a Porlex Grinder, Snowpeak Folding Pourover filter and a Monarch Methods kettle. Another popular method is the Aeropress, but I've grown tired of using it. I've played with the French Press and a Percolater, which are easier of multiple cups at a time, but I don't think the cup of coffee is nearly as good.

Stanley Camping French Press

I recently picked up a Stanly cook and Brew Set, I wanted a smaller, easier to pack coffee pot that still made good coffee. It is stainless steel French press.

I liked the folding handles, and the 36 oz capacity, after struggling with it in the store a bit I figured out that the trick to sliding in the plastic plunger was to turn it while plunging. The other thing that I really like is I can fit one coffee cup, and my coffee scoop inside of pot for storage.

Following the instructions, I got the water to a simmer, 200 degrees and I used 6TBSP of coffee, it called for 2 tbsp for every 6 ounces of water. Once you add the coffee you must slowly stir it in, as it filled right to the top. I let it sit for 5 min, and the plunged. The Coffee was on the strong side, but that it how I like my coffee while camping.

I found cleaning it to be a bit of a pain, but I have yet to find a easy coffee pot to clean while camping.

This will be replacing my old peculator pot on my next trip.

Please check in John, KN6VL and Bruce, KD6GCO

Gee, I was surprised looking at all of the postings.

I thought I was the only one into camping coffee makers other than cowboy coffee and speckled enamel ware percolators.
