On-line check-in for KK6CTT...Looks like a great net.
I am a fan of the Ed Fong antennas along with the simple 1/4 wave ground plane made from an SO-239 connector. The Ed Fong roll-up J-pole is usually close at hand when hiking for HT antenna redundancy and for directional work I use the Elk log periodic.
It wasn't uncommon, for HF COMMs, in my military capacity, to simply throw a 110' claymore wire out in a long-wire configuration. It wasn't stellar but it was sometimes the most convenient way to establish COMMs and stay hidden.

For portable HF use, I got a 10-80M Alpha DX EMCOMM Antenna from OAUSA member Roger Satorra WZ6B (KK6GFF). This antenna sets up in a couple of minutes and works well in my front yard. It has 1 counterpoise line staked in the ground. The Yaesu FT-991A has inputs for both the previously mentioned VHF/UHF J-pole antenna and the HF antenna. I haven't used this one a lot yet, still on a learning curve with the massive amount of functions on the radio.
