Please check in: David - AK6DH.

I attended our local club, Antelope Valley Amateur Radio Club (K6OX) Field Day at Rawley Duntley Park in Lancaster, CA. I did not take photos. About a dozen members showed up.
We were running 2A, all on battery power charged by solar. Overall, we had 5 stations, but only a couple of us were actively taking part in the FD transmissions. I ran the same setup as last year at Mt. Pinos, my FT-991A, Ed Fong J-pole on a tripod, and Alpha EMCOMM antenna. This time, on battery power. I made 6 contacts, the other station made several dozen, his end fed dipole antenna was much better. One of the club members was demonstrating and teaching us how to do Anderson Power Pole and coax connectors. We had an elected official show up, Steve Hofbauer (KM6AIT) the mayor of Palmdale. He setup his HF system and antennas. He made his first ever HF contact. We had a display, but not many pubic members came by to ask about what we were doing. I am an active VE with GLAARG, and have done many remote sessions. I Participated in one during, field day, to show my fellow club member VEs how it's done. We always ask why they are getting their license, if they mention off-roading or camping, I let them know about OAUSA and the weekly net.
We also had the requisite potluck dinner, I used my DC powered pellet smoker and made tri-tip.

Thanks Rick for the wrapup.

My club was busy this year, working large bike races and most recently helping pony express reride get from west coast to east coast of nevada.
When I sent a question to the members about working our field day, the response was minimal, considering covid and all, so we decided to
work from home if members wanted to do it. (similar to last year)

Hoping to get back in the swing of FD 2022 .
