Items recently used on a trip that I was going to feature in another post but fit here.

: I sometimes find it very difficult to move past my old Army gear that continues to be a great "standard bearer." It may be antiquated, heavy and non-Gucci...but it works well and it grows on you; as did the kidney shaped, USGI, stainless steel, canteen cup that is usually nested in a Nalgene canteen verse the old OD USGI canteen (not depicted). : I have found that there is cookware for every occasion and cast iron is no different. For most camping events a Dutch oven is highly regarded, but...I also enjoyed the little brother to this set which has tabs for handles (easy to store/pack) and enough size for larger meals. I have used the little brother in a Dutch oven configuration by putting this on a rock in the middle of the fire and coals on the lid. : I have my original Boy Scout utensil set since pre-teen age and I found this Girl Scout set at a thrift store and this was its first voyage to the outback. : Pelican gear has been "winning" for decades. : Just now getting into Benchmade knives where two great examples are currently the "Bushcrafter" and the "Mini-Presidio".
