I did get to do field day last year with a group called the RF Group, a branch of the Riverside ARC. I hope to actually do field day in the field this year, and really go all out if we get enough people involved.
anyone already have plans for this year?

I was thinking about having a field day / 4x4 trip thsi year. we started talking about it on the RR Forum & blackx thought of going to anza which could definately work if we take some masts and guy them. I thought it would be a good oporitunity to get more people involved in radio and teach new & potential hams.
but i'm also open to any mtn tops with lots of space and trees to tie antennas up in. Getting permission for squints ranch near silverwood may be a possibility but not much wheeling to be had out there other than cleghorn, willow creek, dishpan springs, ..ok so maybe it can work.
