Actually in the military termonology I come from, pickle is the term used to "drop/release" something...

EXAMPLES:
1. "Pickle the load."

2. "Pickle the auxilliary tanks."

...to accomplish the act acy of pickling something the button we would push was referred to as a "Pickle Button".

I remember from long ago, back when CB radio was an actual means of communication that required a license, that the "pickle" was the transmit button on the microphone...
