Looks like I missed a great Fest. I was thinking about it all weekend long. Great pictures everyone. Scott, great report as always. Looks like you guys made it to Heartbreak Ridge.
There is one benefit to not being able to make it this weekend...
I had 2 whole apple Strudels all to my self.

Dave, Jodi and Larry- you guys are awesome. Thanks for everything!
Looks like you had a very busy weekend, Ollie. Maybe we'll see you on Otay Mountain sometime.
Yep, we're sorry you didn't make it out Braden.
Can't wait for FallFest out in Anza-Borrego!

This was a great event! We truly have a bunch of wonderful people on this site and that showed through at summer fest. It was great to finally put faces to to the names on the site and voices on the radio. I didn't bring my camera so, no pix but I probably wouldn't have taken any if I did since I was having to much fun to take pix anyway.
Saturday's runs on Jacoby and Pontiac were both scenic and just challenging enough to keep things interesting and fun! Glad Borrego Wrangler was able fix his front drive.
Lot's of good food, drink, and camaraderie 'round the camp fire on Saturday night.
Sunday morning we ran White Mountain in both directions. A short but very fun little trail with a great desert view. Jaytil, did great job climbing White Mountain and Matt actually climbed it in John's (Borrego Wrangler's) jeep unlocked! Nice! Pat went up it on the difficult route. I had some major puckering going on just watching that!!
As everyone else said their goodbyes and headed down the mountain I decided I wanted to explore a bit more before heading home. I took Coxey Rd to Grapevine Canyon, to Power Line Rd, to Joshua Tree Rd, and out to Hwy 18 to Bear Valley Rd through Apple Valley and down the 15. Grapevine has some incredible rock outcroppings, shelf roads, and desert floor views. A mini thunderstorm built up as I was going down the mountain and I got rained on a little and heard a couple claps of thunder as I aired up at the 18.
Looking forward to Borrego Fest. See Y'all there!

Re: 2008-08- 23/24 SummerFest @ Big Bear
Thanks, Scott, for the excellent write-up on OAUSA's inaugural SummerFest !!!
It was great to see many old friends, and it was nice to see some new faces too !!!
As a "professional" Eater, I can attest to the awesome potluck on Saturday night - the quantity of food was unbelievable, the variety of dishes was amazing, and the taste was unmatched !!! Thank you to everyone who contributed their time and talent to keeping me well-fed on the trail...
DaveF, a stupendous job getting this event arranged, and keeping it on track. Your work paid off, as SummerFest was a success... It seemed all had a good time on the trail, and a wonderful time back at camp...
Thanks to all who helped introduce my friend and your fellow OAUSA member, JayTil , with his formerly spotless Trail Teams FJ Cruiser, to the wonders of off-road - and to the dirt and scratches that go along with it...
All in all, I had a great time - thank you to everyone who attended for making SummerFest '08 another memorable off-road experience...
