Some of my favorite areas are Jacumba, 50 miles east of San Diego, and along the Colorado River near Yuma.

Better late than never. John asked for pictures of the skull. I forgot, but remembered today as we were working in the garage and talking about hog hunting. The skull on the left is a 2yr old boar, about 160LB. The skull on the right is a monster. He went around 300LB. My son and I as well as another person drove up on top of a ridge. We had 2 dogs with us.The side was steep and brushy. We stood around for a few minutes until some other hunters got in position down the ridge. We were going to turn the dogs out to work the ridge in case any hogs were there.

They radioed they were ready. We let the dogs out and within seconds and not more than 10 yards down the ridge in the steep brushy stuff all hell broke loose. A big hog can kill a dog and we only had two as they were going to work the ridge. The rest of the pack was elsewhere so we had to get to the dogs and pull them back. Normally when you get into this kind of situation, you can turn out another 3 or 4 dogs. If the hog charged we were in trouble, due to no visability and not enough dogs to grab it. The brush was moving all over and the dogs were yelping--not the hog--a sign of a big boar. Talk about scared. I had my son get into the truck and we could only take pistols, no room for rifles. We got a break and it winded us and decided to run--it sounded like a car driving away. :o Since this is the second time I have typed this, I will post and then post pictures.

Regards, Steve

I haven't ever been hog hunting yet. I want to try it out though. Those are some very impressive sized hogs.
