Well, hopefully it'll pick back up as we get closer to january. Looks like there's still a few details to be worked out. If this turnes out to be a friday-sunday run, I'd consider getting a room somewhere around Laughlin thursday night.
I would rent a room at the AVI Casino. It is just a few miles from the Mojave Trail head, has great rates, a gas station in the parking lot and you literally cross the street and you are in the dirt. You can get a group rate if you ask and or 10% off with a AAA card. http://www.avi-casino.com/hotel.html

John you probably need to take the lead with the organization of this run. We can close the poll in a week although the date looks to be a landslide. Then you can open a new thread and run with it if you choose. January will be here before you know it and the permit needs to be applied for etc., etc.

Yeah, the AVI Casino. That's the one I was trying to think of. Thanks for the vote confidence, Scott! However, I've never been on the Mojave Road, so for the actual run I'd prefer someone who's familiar with it to lead it. I do have my guidebooks, though. Anyway, I'd be glad to help out, so I'll post up a new thread in a week and see about getting that permit.

Sounds good. If you choose to run lead that will be up to you but someone needed to step up and organize this run. Thank you for jumping in. You're a patient leader and you will need that with 15 rigs or more out there. ;) The trail is easy to follow and there is very little to be concerned with while leading. Keep good communications, you don't want to lose anyone off the back  and don't let anyone take off out on the dry lake who isn't familiar with it. If you have ever driven on a dry lake then you know that sometimes they can be very deceiving. On Soda Lake even in the middle of summer, there is thick mud just below the surface in many areas out there. I'll probably see you in ABDSP in a few weeks. :)
