Great report guys! I'll be heading out there this coming weekend with a group from the SoCal FJ site. rangers report the soda lake to be in bad shape, but it looks fine in the pics.
I'll have to hit some trails with y'all sometime soon. It's been to long since I've gone out with you guys!

Awesome pictures and commentary thus far. I also had an incredible time. What an amazing place. I could have doubled the 3 days and still been itching for more sights (and a hot shower!).
By the way, if any of you guys have a shot of me in the Afton Canyon water crossing I'd love to get a hold of it. That was my first real water crossing.
I'll just throw out a bunch of pictures and save you the same trip report.

That was Lost Canyon in his Taco. I guess that was his way of testing the firmness of the supposedly mushy lakebed off the 'road' we all drove out on. With so many signs saying it was impassable, no one wanted to take any heavy vehicles too far off the beaten path.
If you follow my link in section 2 of this thread, there's a great shot of this in process, with me getting sprayed by the mud chunks! Had to be a lot of trust there for me to stand so near a fast moving vehicle.

A plaque on the monument reveals a secret that only Mojave Road travelers are to know.

Come on dude, you can't drop a tid bit of info like that and just leave us hanging.
What's the 411...
is it a UFO landing site?
is there a dead body under there?
Is it Jimmy Hoffa?
Does Elvis do a show every Tuesday?
Does the never before seen "Man-Bear-Pig" roam the area?
Is it Bat-boy's secret lair?
Come on, inquiring minds want to know???

No spoilers here, you've got to see it yourself.
