Ollie,

I am trying to get there. I was supposed to go to Big Bear and do John Bull that morning, but I have a tower that is a problem, can not get down from Big Bear if something happens. Will most likely make the meet and greet and someone can teach me a little about Ham. I am not much into the jibberish of CB. Maybe this would suit me better.

I will be bringing my trailer for display.

Bob

I really wanted to come out today and show off what I have done with my Suburban mobile ham shack.
However I lost the transmission in my truck yesterday and now need to get it rebuilt. Oh well.
I hope everyone had a great time!

Dave:

Very sorry to hear that about the Sub. Having replaced the trans in my Sub many years ago, I can honestly say that these problems always happened at the worst of all possible times.

Don't despair! Bring the shack to Borrego Fest.

Congratulations, Jesse, and to everyone else who passed their ham radio license test today !!!

Thanks to everyone who came out today; weather was great, and we were busy all day with folks checking out the various rigs parked in front of BPS. The testing session was successful, and browsing through the store itself, well, that is an experience unto itself...

I am so happy this event was a success. I was thinking of it all day long. Maybe the key to success is me not being there... :? :D

Anyway... thanks to all those who attended and those who contributed to make this a success. We certainly appreciate it. Also, I want to congratulate those who passed the test. You are now into another addicting hobby that meshes with any outdoor adventure hobby very well. I also want to encourage any of those that may have tried and failed at the test not to give up. Study a little bit more and go try it again.

So... what were the numbers? How many took the test, which levels, etc.???

I want to say thanks to all who attended.

I am not ready to test, but Dave promised me, he would teach me all I needed to know. Slow learner though. My wife thought I should have bought the yellow FJ for some reason.

The weather was fantastic, people friendly and what can you say about Bass Pro shop that has not been said.

Had a lot of people that were just out there shopping, walking through the area, and a lot of interest.

Congrats to all that took the test.

Looking forward to purchasing a Ham Radio and expanding my horizons.

And to any that have not heard, Ollie's mom came through with flying colors. I know all of our prayers helped.
