Water and Gasoline Update

I confirmed today that there are gas stations in Canyon de Chelly, Red Rock Valley, Monument Valley and Kayenta (near Keet Seel). For us, this will mean that 2-3 Jerry Cans should be more than enough.

Water is a little more difficult to come by but we will have several opportunities at the above cities, to refill our water cans. I still think that we each should carry 15-20 gallons of water and plan on one stop to refill.

Bob: I forgot to mention that the first night in Monument Valley will include dinner by the guides as part of the package. I''ll have to get back to you with details.

Oh goodie, gas was going to be the big one for me since I really have no good place to put it but inside.
I can get 2 cans on the roof safely.



Does everyone else have on-board air? I will actually need to air down/up my tires this time around since the low-profiles are gone. I found a good deal on a compressor system locally (Viair 450C), but I would really rather put the funds somewhere more critical (like finishing my cargo/sleeping system) if I can use someone else's.

Yes, I have a compressor and there are probably a couple of others that do as well. You're covered.

I have an on board air compresser. I'll also be carrying a set of metric wrenches and sockets.

I'm considering an awning mounted to the roof rack.

I know its a little early to mention this, but I talked to our guides today and its muy frio (very cold), in the Navajo Nation. Not surprising considering how much snow is on the ground.

This will change, but it's probably a good idea to come prepared for low temps at night!

That will at least make for good hiking weather.
