Hey Chazz, I noticed the comm status for your run here is still TBD. You can go with the secondary CB channel, 34 (I'll be on 23) and 147.450 for your 2M Simplex.

As for a suggestion in case the second part of your run doesn't work out, there's Skyline Drive (2N10) and Clarks Summit (1N54). When you're finished with Gold Mtn and Jacoby you could contact me on the cell or radio to see where my run is at. Depending on where we're at we could meet up with you.

We'll be ironing out the comms issue in the next day or two. I have to review our simplex channels. There is some conflict with Band Plans.

Indeed, very pretty over there. Looking at the map there's a spot called "Sugarlump" off of Radford that might be worth checking out. Return could be down Clark's Grade...

I just heard back from USFS, and that route out of Wildhorse Meadows is definitely a no-go. I will study my maps this weekend and work out a Skyline/Clark alternative.

You can always take the 38 down to 7 oaks and then hit the clarks grade and ranch and up to the skyline drive. I may try to get up there and join you at some point. Have a wedding on Friday. If memory serves, it is 1n54 and also 1n09. Take the short detour to the clarks ranch. There is a parking/camp site and then walk out to the old ranch site. Lots of wild blueberrys. I have seen deer and lots of bear sign.

What is all this talk about Gold Mtn. It is a sissy trail . It is like the bunny slope. Except for the ledge--and the rocks--and the field and the --other stuff. If not for all the hard spots, my grandma's pacer could run that trail.

I'm going to have to cancel out on Summerfest and the Peaks run. I play in a local community pops orchestra and we're doing a 2 hour concert on the 4th. I have get ready for that and I also have guests coming up for the 4th to prepare for, i.e. clean the house .

I hope to make it for the next event in the Fall.

Yowwza Chazz, I was going keep my rig at the camp because my back is messed up. I feel bad the others had to change plans...so F-it, sign me up for this man. I just gotta be careful with my oil pan, it's still smashed up from a good buddy named John Bull. So I'm game.

Your rig will have no issues with these trails. You should be fine.

Thanks for the vote of confidence Ollie. I have seen videos of the rocky section of Gold Mountain and it looks like the pucker factor gets pretty high. I have been wanting to drive it for a long time though. My passenger is a little worried, he has never been off roading like this. I love taking fresh meat on the rocks!
