Outstanding, how does May 13-16 work? If it works, we can start a new thread in an appropriate section. Maybe we can get larry out there to rock and roll. I know he needs a vacation and glasses

I have every weekend that month free and... since that is only 1 - 1.5 hours away I'll defer to anyone else's needs on the date. I'm open to where as well, so I'll wait for your thread.

Other businesses have taken a different tack — and are embracing the movement.
The East Coast Pizza Bar and Grill in Walnut Creek, Calif., about 25 miles east of San Francisco, invited gun owners to host open carry meet-ups. At least 70 people attended one last Sunday, many carrying firearms, said the owner, Jessie Grunner, 30. And over a dozen returned on Thursday night for more.
“Frankly, I wasn’t sure how I would feel in that type of situation, and it really turned out to be a total nonissue,” Ms. Grunner said.
“The families were great,” she said. “These were very gracious people.” The fact that customers wore sidearms, she said, “just faded into the background.”

I don't think the people doing this are getting their point across and I just don't see CCW changing in California. The problem is I also don't know of anything short of moving out of California will make any difference. Now before you all start there are a lot of us that love living in California for OTHER reasons.The goal, at least in part, is to make the case for liberalized concealed weapon laws by demonstrating how uncomfortable many people are with publicly displayed guns.

Have you applied for a ccw? I do not know the policy of Union City, but Alameda county has issued permits. I don't know their policy, but they do issue. You should check with both dept's and then apply where you have the best chance.

I have not. I always heard that it's next to impossible for a "normal" person to get one.

It really does depend on how the local law enforcement agency feels about it. While California's gun laws are surprisingly uniform (with the exception of places like SF that for some reason get away with breaking state law), CCW approval is completely at the discretion of the agency where you apply. In Orange county for example, "I go hiking" and a clean record used to be sufficient. With the new Sheriff... not so much anymore.
