Is there a device like a surge protector that I could plug into it that would help with electronics?
It's not just surge protection we'll need - the inverter is used because the amateur equipment runs on 12V, while the gennie puts out 120V...
I use power supplies the run on 120V, but voltage stabilization is helpful when using a gennie to prevent damage to the power supplies...

^^^ Correct. The AC power from an inverter type generator is "cleaner" sine wave power and is better regulated.
BTW, I've secured another Honda 3000i for the event from the same rental source I used last year. With this unit and Larry's 2000i we are set and ready.

Ok, I understand. Mine also outputs 12v but at only 10 amp. Glad to hear you got another good one secured.
Is it Friday yet?

Back home in 7 - Land.
I know there will be a post-mortem / report thread, but while I am here.
Thank-you everyone! It was a fun night. Cold, yes, Fun yes. Pulled out another twenty or so contacts on 40. I was kinda hoping to get our overall total closer to 400 before everyone got up. But I did finally have to retreat and go up to a friend's cabin around 5 am.
Definitely time to scout a better RF location. I notice we can get into the southeast and south, and somewhat into other areas. But we always seem dry to the northeast.. hmm. Yeah, I thought it was a good spot years ago.
I got some pix to post/send.
So where did the contact count unofficially end up?
Look forward to next year. And I am circling the BorregoFest date.

ps: if some had not noticed, I got myself elected as the webmaster for Vegas Valley Four Wheelers (
http://www.vv4w.org) I'll go and post some info about BorregoFest in our calendar. And you might find some of my trip reports, like previous runs @ Anza and Bear, on the site.

field day = good times.
The final count ended up at 420 i believe.
I agree that we need a new / better location ... like at the top of john bull

jk
but seriously, we do need a better location. also it's looking like randy and i will be running some CW next year.
There are tons of opportunities to rack up more points on field day like running cw & digital. as well as copying the w1aw bulletin.
