Dennis,
Oh, I guess you were waiting for a reply.
I had a little motorcycle spill that put me out of commission for a few weeks as far as doing the wood working on the FlipPac. I still have a pile of plywood and nothing in the back of the Tacoma.
Unfortunately, I don't have time right now to put a run together. Death Valley has special considerations regarding numbers of people, vehicles, and permits. Unless it would be casual run there probably isn't enought time to organize anything before it gets too hot. How about aiming for early Fall when it start to cool off?

Sorry to hear about you mishap! Are you OK?
It is OK about the trip. We can do it any time.
I’d like to go out in April with some folks though. I might just go to Butte Valley and look for a few things or maybe Saline, I do not know. I have not been out in a while and need to get out and about.

Dennis,
My spill wasn't as bad as orginally throught. It looked like a torn miniscus but the injury turned out to all be outside of the knee joint. There was a lot of pain, swelling, and stiffness for a couple of weeks. It was mostly gone after a month.
I'm very glad that I'm a ATGATT (All The Gear All The Time) rider. Even thought I was just running up to the Post Office I had all my gear on. I got a quarter size spot of road rash on my knee and a little spot on one finger even though I was only going 15 to 20 mph when I fell. Those hurt enough. I'm glad there wasn't any more.
After analyzing the results it prompted me to get separate knee protection and not rely on the knee pads in my riding pants to be in the right place at the right time. Also I'm not going to ride with gloves that don't have good joint protection. The gloves I was wearing did and the knuckles were pretty torn up but they did their job protecting my hands. It was scary looking at the left glove and thinking that could have easly been my hand.
We'll have to get together and plan some kind of Death Valley run either for the fall or spring if someone else doesn't beat us to it.

Good to hear the injuries were minimal. I am still interested in a DV trip.

Over with SCTC we have Butte Valley set for the end of April. A one nighter up Goler and back. I wanted to climb the Butte but we’ll see what folks want to do. The rest of April I’ll be doing the Big Bear and back run to work up there. I’d like to hit Saline before it gets too hot.

Where do you want to go? I am sure we can work something out.

I have never been so it is all new too me. If the weather in Anza this weekend was any indication, it may already be getting to warm for me though.

I really need to stay home for awhile to get the Pinzgauer running. I have some runs I'd like to take it on in the Summer and Fall. Once I get the Pinzgauer going again then I hope to get out to more events.

The only thing I have going is the SCTC trip to Butte Valley the last weekend in April. I am back amongst the unemployed so, I am open to nearly anything, when it is hotter, you just go higher!

Okie dokie. I have actually not been out in a while. Just too many things on the list to get done to get away! So, I understand entirely.

OK, just to update. The SCTC trip is April 28 and 29 starting in Trona and we do welcome guests. So far just two rigs, both 2 meter equipped.
I am also thinking about a mid-May trip to Saline Valley. . . but not sure about details.
Let me know if there is any interest. Soon it will be too hot to be out in the desert!

Last I heard. There is NO GAS in Trona.
So fill up in Ridgecrest!
