Short answer is, yes.

If you are testing for your first license, you will need a government issued ID, such as a drivers license. You can make the whole process easier by obtaining a FCC Registration Number (FRN) on line. In granting your license, the FCC will require either a FRN or Social Security Number. While we can process your application with your Social Security number, we would prefer not to do so, due to the sensitive nature of those 9 numbers.

Click on this link ( https://apps.fcc.gov/coresWeb/publicHome.do ) and hit to the "register" button. Follow the prompts and you will have your number in a few minutes. Print it out and bring it with you. Good luck!!!

Thanks everyone! Great time over lunch and finally got my Tech. The guys encouraged me to take my General too but wasn't able to pass this time around. Looking forward to Borregofest and another attempt at the General.

It was great to see old friends and make a few new ones, as well as grab a meal at the fantastic restaurant in the Bass Pro Shop. Fried Alligator - yum !!!

We had a total of 4 new amateurs to add to the roster - and thanks to all who withstood the 104 degree temps to hang out with us. I look forward to seeing all of you in the cooler desert at OAUSA BorregoFest 2015, Oct 9-11.
