Daves other half also posted on the Rugged Rocks board, a couple of us went up tonight and got daves truck.
we took 2 rigs, both on 35's w/ lockers. it also required snow-chains and a little shoveling to get all the way up to where his truck was at.
we dug out the truck, gave it a pull, and drove it back out. the snow on the trail was atleast 2 ft deep in some sections but was much easier to pass once we had our tire tracks down from on the way up.
Daves friend and son stayed at the hotel to keep the young'n out of the freezing conditions while we got the truck. once we hit pavement we had a quick gas stop and a chance to de-chain. dave went back to the hotel to pick up his friend and son and are now on thier way home. he just dropped by on the way down the hill to drop off a few things and everything is fine.

Steveo and crew came out around 9am tonight and plowed up the hill to get the truck out. I want to thank everyone for helping and even considering bailing me out of this stupid mistake. I should have stayed at the bottom, or at least left the people who needed help once i found out they were going to take longer than expected. It was a difficult drive to where the help was needed, but the Expedition made it fine. It started snowing heavily and we couldnt see anything and the wind was blowing really hard and the Expedition slid into a rut and I couldnt drive it out. The ride out was horrible. My friend and I had to sit in the back of a Ford Ranger that was throwing snow all over us. We were so cold that we lost all will to hold on so we wouldnt fly out of the bed. This is by far the worst snow experience ever.
But we are home and warm now

big dave, I'm glad to see you made it out of that mess safely...
Just shows you that even the best of intentions can take a quick turn for the worse when bad weather comes along....and reminds us all not to f**k with Mother Nature...
Welcome back.....

A great analogy is a swim rescue. If the rescuee tries to climb up the rescuer's body, the rescuer kicks them away and tries for an appropriate grab that will keep both swimmers safe.
If trying to help someone is putting you in danger or getting you stuck, stop, get yourself safe, assess, then try a new plan that will more likely ensure a safe rescue for all involved. (Why to I hear Tom's voice in my head??)
However, I would have done the same thing as you Dave. It shows your good nature by sticking with them to be of assistance as best you could. It's tough going against our good nature, even if logic dictates otherwise.

Dave,
I am glad all came out well in the end. I would like to talk with you about things that happened. Have a listen to the Failure Analysis net in the Net Archive off
http://oausa.net/on-air-netsof the Main page. You will get my angle. It is just food for thought that we all need to hear from time to time.

I listened to the entire broadcast. Its scary thinking about what could have happened if we didnt get out of there just in time.
