If there are no low level wide 1-1 repeaters in an area, wouldn't the Wide1-1,Wide2-1 just default to a Wide2-2 (or similar) as most if not all high level wide repeaters will respond to a Wide1-1?

I will give Wide2-2 a try and see if I get better coverage out in the desert.
Eric,

I already did this test. Wide2-2 is the way to go in the desert. My question was based on solely focusing on a group of people out in the desert without clouding up the digipeaters outside that area.

Give that a shot and we can work from there.
The Unproto path is correct on UI View 32...next idea

Next idea is to check the audio levels on transmit. You can try this by listening to the frequency on another radio. Listen to how all the radio stations sound. Ideally they should sound about the same. It is possible you do not have enough or too much deviation to decode properly.

Ideally this would be set with a service monitor, but very few of us have that kind of money laying around. In any case it is really difficult to describe the steps to set the proper deviation for a TNC.

I will look around and see if we can find a good tutorial on that process.

Sounds like a yes to me. IF we can get Hector in on this, we can really go places.

I was watching Ollie, Hector and DaveK today on APRS, and saw your messages to each other - but I still can't seem to send one out, even though my station shows up on the map (maybe cause it's local and not going through a digipeater ?)

It's very frustrating; I've tried all the different path settings suggested, it seems all the settings are correct, I see the radio transmitting signals, and I'm receiving everyone else's info, too...well, back to the setup files to see if I can figure it out...it's got to be something very simple... :(

Larry:

Have you given any thought to changing from uiview to AGW Tracker?

Works well and there is a new version just released on June 12, 2009.
