Man I wish I cold make this. I'll be working in Arizona and may need to stay over the weekend. And that has me stressed out with the wife so close to her due date.

I have an IC-706MKIIG and I just couldn't get my head around the manual but then I decided to Google the model name and got some tips on the initial configuration that helped break the ice and now I can do basic repeater programming with no problems plus the other menus are starting to fall in place. What seemed hard now seems easy and my only limit is to learn HF Operation and of course get a General upgrade which I am planning to get done on the 5th. It's not only that the manual might be confusing sometimes it's just plain wrong. I'm sure the Japanese version makes perfect sense. The morale of the story is to slow down and look for help from every possible source and try a little at a time.
Take scan for instance. I was looking to where I could change the scan speed but it turns you cannot directly change the speed but rather you adjust the squelch and that will do the trick. Makes perfect sense but badly explained in the manual.

Dennis -
This is good info, but also unrelated to topic of this thread. Maybe you could start a new thread on the Icom IC-706MKIIG and it's features and programming methods.
If you are looking to test for your General ticket, why not come out and join us on the 19th at Bass Pro Shops (which is the topic here

) ?

It wouldn't hurt.
Can I give you your stickers the day of the event or do you want them mailed to you for the TDS event?

Are you still gonna make it to TDS? If so I would more than likely hang with you anyway, so I could get them there. As for the easy ups, let me know what time you plan on getting there to set up. Im a mile away so would like to help if needed.
