There is the regular big pine camp ground right next to the group camp, I am not sure if we can reserve some spots there. I will check with my contacts at the forest service and see if it would be a problem if we had a few extra vehicles at the site.

The group site we have reserved allows 15 vehicles and the word seems to be that they are not that strict about enforcing the rules if there are a few extras.

Hi, we were up in big bear this weekend, asked the FS about the car count. now it seems to be 8 (?) None of the rangers at the Discovery center seemed to really know..
the campground is great, will be a good time..

If I had known you were up there I would have come up and bothered you :)

I will print out the NF website showing the 15 vehicles and bring it along.

This page from their website, shows 15 vehicles at the top of the page, then at the bottom it says 8. FYI

I just called the discovery center again to quadruple check.. 25 people, 15 cars.
and dave is correct, those are not strict limits.

On another note, I tuned the 80m dipole yesterday.. it's big.

Weather is looking great for Summerfest...

Forecast says 86 degrees daytime, 46 degrees nighttime, 0 % chance of rain, clear skies, and winds of 5 mph....all 3 days !!!

This is a huge improvement over our last Meet & Greet...
