Here is the new and improved BugEater. I've added new bumpers, The cargo area has been completely redone to accomodate my new ARB fridge, new HD rear coils w/ Race Runner shocks, new LED tail lights with Manik guards, new dualband Kenwood TM-D710 to accomodate APRS, APRS from Kenwood tied to GPSMap 478 and Panasonic Toughbook laptop computer, new Clarion head unit, and new M-Pack cargo barriers with added gun rack.

Ollie, what can I say - the "Bugeater" is awesome... you are setting a new benchmark for the well-equipped off-roader...


but I think I saw an available suare millimeter of space on the dash - must be something else you can add

Here's the "BugEater" with its new shoes a few hours prior to breaking them in in the heat of Anza Borrego...

Looks beautiful Ollie. As much as you don't want to rewire it's time for a Gobi roof rack. There is nothing like being able to walk around on top of the rig and store as much gear as you need for any adventure up top.

I completely agree... about the wiring and the rack. The only reason I haven't went that route yet is that it won't fit in my garage with any other rack; even the GOBI Stealth. With my rack as is, I actually rub the rubber door wiper that runs across the top of the garage door.

That's strange - usually the Gobi Stealth sits lower than the factory rack...

I was thinking the same thing but did not want to do the work searching for facts. I'm almost positive that my Ranger's height was identical or just barely higher than the OEM rack. Maybe you'll only be able to fit when your tires are a bit more worn.
