This week our topic was maps map reading , compass, and navigation. There is a lot to know and with our guest we explored as much as we could. We will need to have another session!

Our guest was Bruce Krell AE6VG. Bruce has been teaching navigation to the military and teaches pistol and long range shooting through his company Shooters Edge.

We covered benefits To Offroaders/Outdoors Adventurers of Knowing Map And Compass and Coordinate Systems and Grids.
We covered elements of A Map, Determining Grid Coordinates, Reading Terrain Features In A Map, Using A Map In The Field – Terrain Association, Determining Distance On A Map, Determining Grid Azimuth, Determining Location Given A Grid Point, An Azimuth, A Distance , Determining A Back Azimuth, Selecting A Compass, Using A Compass In The Field – Navigating With An Azimuth, Orienting A Map With A Compass, Determining Location With A Map, Compass, and Back Azimuth.
Bruce posted examples on the web site. The graphics will remain for a while if you want to look at them. The URL is http://www.shooters-edge.com/radionet
It can take upto 5 minutes to download the graphics - be patient.

The net lasted 2 hours with 23 check ins.

Bruce , Thank you for an excellent net last night with the Map & Compass net.

If you didn't see his graphics use this URL http://www.shooters-edge.com/radionet. Really cool solution to a topic on the radio that really needs graphics.
