Below is a my report from a run I did back in December. I hope this provides good info for anyone wanting to hit this trail in the future.

A group of us headed out to Anza Borrego for an impromptu run on Sunday including...

Me - Xterra
Brian - Xterra
Oz - Xterra
Tim - FJ
Jason & Dom - 4Runner
Moe - 4Runner

We started on the west side of Pinyon Mountain Trail and worked our way east through Fish Creek and out to Split Mountain Rd. Total time was about 6 hours. The first few miles are easy trail passable with 2wd high clearance stock truck until you come to the first obstacle known as The Squeeze. From this point foward the trail becomes one way with about five major obstacles to clear to make it to the end.

In the conditions we had with snow and ice I would definitely rate this trail black diamond. Although several of our trucks did not have lockers nor winches I would not hit this trail without them. I would also highly recommend skid plates, sliders, and at least 33" tires. The trucks with lockers can likely struggle up and through every obstacle, but those without lockers need a winch to climb the last major obstacle consisting of snow covered slick rock at a severe climbing angle.

Unfortunately, my camera died about half way through the day so the last couple obstacle I don't have pictures of.

Very nice. I love that area. I am toying with the idea of going through the squeeze.

I don't know the width of your truck, but the FJ is only about 1.5" wider than the Xterra and it's the only one that scrapped going through. That's how tight it is. There was another obstacle that the open dif trucks couldn't get up and we had to break out the winch but I see you're locked so you shouldn't have too much of a problem. I'm sure it was due to the snow and ice, but i think even in the spring/summer it could be a little of a challenge.

That sounds like the spot that I struggled on with my 4Runner...............I didn't need a winch though ;)
