Anza Borrego Exploration- 2/08/2009

It turned out to be a nice day in the desert even with a few light showers here and there. We met up in Ramona and headed on out to Anza Borrego, on up Coyote Canyon to the primitive camp at Sheep Canyon. On the way up, Ralphie busted a shock on the bypass road. I grabbed the wrong memory card on the way out so I was only able to take a few pictures in south fork Sheep Canyon. The others will be able to fill in the rest.

Here's the waterfalls we managed to reach. I'll have to camp there again to explore a little further.

Afterwards, we drove to the end of Coyote Canyon and hiked a ways into middle willows. It was a forest back in there, but the pathway was fairly wide. We noticed that I wouldn't take too much hard work to make a trail through there again, if it was ever opened up.

They are in the south fork of Sheep Canyon. So if you're at the campsite heading up into the canyon, just stay to the left. You can see the large grove of palms from the camp as well.

Had a great time out there yesterday. As I mentioned before, I messed up my foot and wasn't up to the hike to the falls, so I struck out on my own and checked out the Anza campsite historical marker, middle willows and Salvador (sp?) canyon while the rest of our crew went to the falls. Thanks to Borrego Wrangler, Mark, Ralpie, and Snowby4 for fun day!

You guys suck  had I seen your post soon enough, I probably would've gone with you. Looks like a great time and on the upside, Fox is right here in Santee, so you can just drop it off for repair

Nice pix, John and Dana! Thanks for posting them! Wish I could have made the hike up to the falls, it looks like a beautiful place.
