Let's talk about shocks

I’m switching my lift from the POS Full Traction Long Arm I have now, to the Teraflex Pro LCG Long Arm.

I thought as long as I’m upgrading the lift I thought it would be best to go with a better shock. (I bought the kit w/out the Teraflex shocks.)

Let’s hear your opinions and preferences regarding shocks. Price is not a consideration.

Very difficult to have a comprehensive discussion on shocks within the confines of a forum post. First, what model / year Jeep is it, and which Pro-LCG long arm kit (4" or 5") ? You'll need to have shock upper and lower mount type, and extended / compressed length information, as many shocks that might be good may not be available to work on that specific lift. With long arm suspensions, another consideration is gas tank / exhaust clearance in the rear, as larger shock bodies sometimes make contact and can create problems down the road (pun intended). To get full use of the extra travel available in a long arm kit, you should consider reservoir shocks. The external reservoir allows the valving to be located outside of the main shock body, which provides more travel for the same length can.

TerraFlex may provide you with the shock details, but some companies don't want to help you purchase products elsewhere, so I'd give them a call first. Once armed with that info, it will be easier to see what can work for you. A Fox external reservoir shock will most likely fit the bill, assuming the correct configuration is available.

It's a 5" lift. I was thinking of running with a reservoir shock, but frankly I don't know anything about them. That's very usefull info you gave me though. At least it points me in the right direction. Thanks

Any particular reason you feel the Fulltraction long arm kit is a pos?
One of my wheeling buddies has it under his Jeep and after getting rid of the bishings he is quite happy with it.
The belly hangs a bit low but other than that it seems to be fairly well made and wheels well
