From my experience there are two maps of the Parashant and the surrounding area that are far superior to anything else.

1. The BLM offers one of the very best maps I have seen of any area. It is entitled "Arizona Strip District Office Visitor Map" It is printed on water proof paper and provides excellent detail of the area. I seem to recall that the cost is less than $10.00. We each should have one. They can be ordered by calling (435)688-3200 or see the following site for more info: http://www.nps.gov/para/planyourvisit/index.htm

2. USGS Topo maps available through Nat. Geo. Purchase the Arizona State Series. If you shop on line, you can get them delivered for around $80.00. You can print out maps of all of the areas that we will visit as well as use them for live tracking as we travel through the area.

The AZ Strip Vistor map is a good map. Last time I purchased it for $6.00. I think it is back in print at $8.00. Here is the direct link to purchase it.

Another map I recomend to get an quick overview of the area is the AAA Indian Country Guide Map - free at AAA.

This is an overview of the presently planned routes and camps. The waypoints for each camp will be listed below. I am also creating tracks for each route which I can load onto your computer, assuming that you will be running NG Topo!.

Most of the trails and roads that we will be taking are numbered and I will provide a list for each of us.
