Has OAUSA adopted a set of 70cm frequencies for simplex use? I will be setting up my FT-8800 for crossband repeat so I can sit in the comfort of my home and listen to the Keller nets on my HT :D

Would the 70cm band work better for this application or should I stick with 2m on both sides?

I tested it out last night for the rescue net and it worked remarkably well. The frequency being used on the Parashant trip is 437.435, so that's what I used. According to the ARRL band plan, that frequency is within the range used for satellite communications :? . It lists 445.00 to 447.00 as simplex:

ARRL Band Plan

Can I use any frequency within this range, or are there particular ones that you'd recommend? I have seen 445.975 and 446.025 mentioned somewhere.

Also, if anyone is somewhat close to my house, they can use my 8800 as a makeshift repeater. I will post up the frequency if anyone is interested.

For cross band repeat you need to use 70cm on one side and 2M on the other. We haven't set up 70cm simplex yet. We should do that though. You have a great idea there for using that dual band repeater to monitor the nets from your house instead of setting in your truck. Maybe DaveK should do this as well since I know he usually sets in his H2 for the duration of the nets. However, it is probably more spacious than his house anyway...

Is the net being "re-transmitted" on any 70cm repeaters yet? I can X-Band repeat, but my HT is only 2 meter...
