Vanity Call-Sign Granted!

Finally, after sending in four iterations of the application, two checks and a credit card payment (one of the checks was returned - twice :o ), our friends at the FCC gave up and granted me my vanity call sign: KV6WTF.

And now that cruiserlarry clued me in to programming the repeater offset :D , I can check into the next net instead of just listening.

If anyone plans to file anything with the FCC, I suggest talking to others first who've attempted to do so already. Myself and others can help you avoid some of the pitfalls so you don't have an experience as bad as mine was. A few other hams have mentioned they've had frustrations with the agency similar to mine.

Well, I hope those are your initials

Anyway, when I applied for my vanity, there were a bunch of boxes and I filled them in based on my first choice, second choice, etc. and sent the payment. A couple weeks later, my call was changed. No biggie. Too bad you had a negative experience.

Congratulations on surviving the "FCC Challenge", Jon !!!

It will certainly be easy to remember the suffix... :o

Actually, it's the initials for the exclamation I uttered every time the FCC rejected my application: What the ****?! :x

Too bad you can't have exclamation points in the callsign suffix...
