Brian here from Vegas, another transplant from Adv4x4 were my forum name was SinCityFJC. I was raised in back of a Jeep starting back in 67, have built many 4x4s mostly vintage jeeps, Currently have 07 FJ Cruiser with a few mods. Just got back into Ham radio after almost a 30 year absence, original call WD6COF, current call KE7TTF & new vanity call most likely will be N7COF.
Today I did 1st mod on the FJ in 6 months, I took the Bandi antenna mount that I was using for CB antenna & modified it to fit UHF connector type Tri band for 2m, 220, & 440 -

The fold down idea is great... especially for a daily driver! Don't worry about drilling holes... once you put a snokel on you'll never worry about holes again... LOL.
What part Vegas are you located?

Hi Wil
Not sure I'm going to keep the FJ long term so don't want to drill holes yet. I might change my mind on drilling holes after I put the bird meter on it & see how well the antenna works down their.
I'm in an older area of Vegas called section 10, all 1/2+ acre lots ie: just more room for stuff. Due west of The Strip less than 10 miles.

I am in Vegas for work about once a month... typically around the airport area. Maybe next time I am there I can bump into you and meet you for a beverage or two!

Did you use the AEV kit or similar for the conversion?
